Standard size solar panels for greater output
Andy Pattison, BOXT's Head of Renewable Energy explains:
“Some companies have started to promote ‘bigger panels’. However, larger solar panels don’t always provide a greater electricity output.
Due to their larger size, bigger panels will naturally generate a higher output than the smaller panels. However, you may usually fit only one row of the larger 1,956mm panels on your roof, which will provide 520W, versus two rows of the smaller 1,734mm panels on your roof, which will provide 460W.
- 5 larger panels x 520W = 2,600W
- 10 smaller panels x 475W = 4,750W
This increased output provides you and your family with more free energy to use or sell back to the national grid.”
