BOXT Life is going to be changing from Consumer Hire to Conditional Sale as of the 10th of September 2024. Find out what that means below.
We’ve listened to customer feedback and wanting the ability to own the boiler at the end of the BOXT Life agreement or before if they wish to choose to buy the boiler outright. It has been the most requested change since we launched BOXT Life back in 2021 and we’re pleased to confirm that this will be possible with the change from a Consumer Hire agreement to a Conditional Sale agreement. This change will only be available to new customers, existing BOXT Life customers will remain on their Consumer Hire agreement with us.
A Consumer Hire agreement is a contract between a retailer (BOXT) and a consumer (you) for the hiring of goods. Think of it like you’re leasing the boiler from BOXT, with the peace of mind that we will sort it out if anything goes wrong. You will not own the boiler for the duration of the contract, or at the end of the agreement. At the end of your agreement you can (i) continue on a rolling monthly basis at a lower rate until the end of useful life, (ii) terminate the agreement and remove the boiler or (iii) enter into a new agreement and we install a new boiler.
Conditional Sale is an agreement where you take ownership of the boiler once you have made your final payment on the plan. You rent the boiler during the term of the agreement and then ownership of the boiler is transferred to you at the end of the agreement. This means you will own the boiler once your last payment has been made or alternatively, if you choose to buy the boiler outright before the end of the plan then the ownership will transfer to you at that point. There will be no deposit to pay and the monthly payments are fixed for the duration of the agreement.
If you are a new customer who hasn’t signed a Consumer Hire agreement for BOXT Life, you have two options available to you from 10th September.
The first option is to continue with your BOXT Life application via a Consumer Hire agreement. As mentioned, this option entitles you to all the benefits of BOXT Life but means you won’t have the option to own the boiler at the end of the agreement. No new applications will be accepted after the 10th of September 2024. Existing applications that have been accepted will remain valid for 30 days however.
The second option is to wait until Conditional Sale is available on BOXT Life. We’re working hard behind the scenes to make this available as quickly as possible and choosing this option will mean you will own the boiler after your final payment, or beforehand should you wish to buy it outright before the end of the plan. You can register your interest for this option by contacting [email protected]. Once Conditional Sale is available, we will contact you using the email address you have provided to let you know.
This change will only be available to new BOXT Life customers.
